Sunflowers by Viktorya

That's me pointing with the paintbrush - Mimi T. took the photo.
Sunflowers - South Dakota - Prairie - natural world and expansive space
Influences in my life that have informed a lot of my work.
The area around Sacramento/Natomas out towards Woodland and Winters, fields of sunflowers bloom in the summer giving me the feeling at times that when I stand in the fields I become Van Gogh's sunflowers. This photo is from one of those days when sprinkles of sunflower pollen dusted my shoulder. Photo by Philip Dow.
Beyond all else, sunflowers inspire me to include them in various works. The Red Shoe is a small acrylic, 9 x 12, and done in a quirky style that I love to explore.

Victoria,
The sunflowers are just amazing, the color, the energy sing a beautiful song. I adore the second picture which is amusing and full of your fun spirit. As always your art is inspiring and thought-provoking.

Carole, we have had so many talks about how sunflowers have influenced our art - us being from Dakota and Kansas. Your round robin wearable art piece spoke to that love of rural memories we both have. Do you still have that piece? Would love to have you send a pic so I could include here on the blog.

YES Carole! Let us see a visual of your "Sunflower" piece. Thinking about 'seeing' sunflowers on a frosty, cold day in December would warm up the soul. Hmmmmm, I'm thinking you two could paint a combination of sunflowers and persimmons and light up the world. I still fantasize about two art exhibitions. One is an entire Gallery full of Victoria's paintings and mixed media artwork. And another one with just Girlfriend art! I shall keep dreaming.

Leslie,
I've thought about the Girlfriend's Art being exhibited - would that be a hoot or what??? I still have the wearable art garment we all worked on in Round Robin fashion and remember when you asked about reoccuring symbols in our art?
That quirky shaped piece was formed with profiles of faces - Faces seem always to show up in my work. At least the work where my thinking gets out of the way and the art has its way.
If this exhibit were not for public view, we could at least bring some of the work together for a private viewing, whadayathink?
