Yarn made in the USA in Sacramento's Rumpelstiltskin

Recently I searched in JoAnne's fabrics for yarn made in the USA.  Most that I liked was from Turkey or Canada, but what I ended up buying was 100% fisherman's wool made in the USA.  As a side note, I am dedicated to buying products NOT from China.  NFC — Not from China.  This may be more difficult than I imagine, but it is going to be worth the effort, and when I buy foreign, I will endeavor to buy from Nations of Democracy.

Looking through the stacks and rows of yarns in JoAnn's, I discovered that certain yarns might be made in the USA, but using imported fibers.  After checking in with members of the Network for Wearable Art for resources, I found a yarn shop in Sacramento called  Rumpelstiltskin.  Linda from Rumpel, responded quickly to my inquiry as to whether they carry USA yarns, and if they had local artisan produced yarns.

One of my favorite hand-knitted sweaters is made from nubby wool yarn that I purchased in a small shop in Yarm, England — could I resist?  No.  It is hugely bulky, cozy and has all the colors of a fall Montana mountain landscape.   So what if it took me 5 years to complete the sweater?

Rumpel is on my destination list for the second week of Nov 07.
