English Garden Tea Rooms Has Closed

ENGLISH GARDEN TEA ROOM has closed.
I am deeply saddened to hear this news and send best wishes to Jane and Michele. - Viktorya

There is an amazing tucked away in Napa Valley's Calistoga CA that is equivalent to any tea room in England.  Why?  Because the owners all hail from the British Isles and bring authenticity to the setting they have so carefully and artfully crafted, both in the interior spaces as well as their table settings.  It's real and made to enjoy.   They have four tea rooms, each with distinctive names to match the décor:  Bluebell, Lavender, Primrose and Rose.  Your experience will be a sensory delight both visual and gustatory.  Jane Stewart and Michele Mitchell are like family to me, and I can promise you, their warmth and hospitality will delight you.

By the way, period dress is welcome.  What a fun holiday outing to get a taste of a  “little bit of Briton” in Napa Valley.  You can read their latest newsletter about the latest events being offered by the English Garden Tea Rooms.

One example of English Garden Tea Rooms offerings:

Victoria & Albert tea

Queen Victoria was Britain’s longest reigning monarch, from 1937 to 1901.

In 1840 she married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg Gotha, Germany. He became her beloved Prince Consort, and father of their nine children. When Albert died in 1861 of suspected typhoid, Victoria was unconsolable . She entered a permanent state of mourning, wearing black for the rest of her life, and withdrawing from public life. This made the monarchy unpopular with the people, and it was not until many years later that her popularity returned.

Victoria was only 18 when she was crowned, and until this time had been obliged to conform to the will of her governess, who believed tea-drinking to be a diabolical habit. Immediately after her coronation, the young Queen asked for a cup of tea, and when her servants carried out her orders, she is reported to have declared: “Now I know I truly reign.”

If you choose the Victoria and Albert tea, you will enjoy:

  • Choice of Tea
  • A Selection of Sandwiches Consisting of:
  • Egg and Watercress
  • Tomato and Cucumber
  • Beef and Horseradish
  • Ham and Tomato
  • Sausage Roll
  • Scone with Strawberry Jam and Cream

  • A Selection of Petits Fours
  • Choice of Victoria Sponge Cake, Traditional, Coffee, Chocolate or Trifle
